Present Simple Tense

Remember the rules to form the present simple tense in English:

• In English, the present simple tense is very easy: you have to use the bare infinitive of the verb EXCEPT FOR the 3rd person SINGULAR. Look at the examples:

• Verb to read: I read a book.
• Verb to buy:  You buy food for the pet.
• Verb to listen: The pupils listen to the teacher in the classroom.
• Verb to jump: We jump very high.
• Verb to kiss: I kiss your baby.
• Verb to fix: You fix the taps of the house.

• But with the 3rd person singular, we add -s or -es.
• Verb to read: John always reads books on Tuesdays.
• Verb to comb: The girl combs her hair in front of the mirror.
• Verb to brush: Manuel brushes his teeth three times a day.
• Verb to watch: The baby watches the movements of the eyes.
• Verb to unbox: She unboxes the presents on Christmas day.
